About me

From a classroom in Ghana to educational research and evaluation in the United States, and to building tools along the way.

Bismark on the Ohio University campus

I began as a teacher and head teacher in Ghana, where I led curriculum design, mentored students, and, through Lead for Ghana, secured a grant for 37 laptops and a library renovation at a rural basic school in Kedzi. That work convinced me that education and good information change lives.

Today I am a doctoral candidate in Educational Research and Evaluation at Ohio University. My research looks at the role of artificial intelligence in academic research and student support, at the experiences of African and international students, and at how civic technology shapes people's sense of government accountability. I served as Assistant Managing Editor of the Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice at Taylor and Francis, and I advise more than 100 exploratory students at University College.

My first book, Between Two Worlds: African International Students in U.S. Higher Education, is an autoethnographic account with 12 contributors across 9 institutions. It is currently under review with Routledge.

Alongside research, I build. CivicConnect Ghana, CivicTransit GH, and CivicQuest Ghana all started from the same idea: that evidence and access should reach the people who need them. This seminar on digital game-based learning sits right at that intersection, which is why the portfolio keeps pointing back to it.
